- Louis Smith President
Louis (Louie) Smith has been with SAY Plastics since its founding in 1986. SAY Plastics was established in November 1986 by Louie’s father, William Smith, and William Yingling, both of whom had decades of experience in thermoforming plastics manufacturing. Louie became President and Chief Visionary upon his father’s passing. He now owns the company and is responsible for its current growth trajectory. Louie’s innovation and experience with metal to plastic conversion and product development has helped set the foundation for SAY’s successes.
- Todd Chrismer Plant Manager
Todd brings over 25 years of thermoforming experience to SAY Plastics. He joined the company in 2017 as Plant Manager and is responsible for overseeing all plant operations and our personnel in production, shipping & receiving, maintenance, tooling and CNC. Todd has attained industry certifications including a certificate for Heavy Gauge Thermoforming from the Pennsylvania College of Technology. From thermoforming machine operator to thermoforming plant manager, Todd has worked in various positions over the years, giving him valuable expertise in 5S and Kaizen methodologies, value stream mapping, tooling engineering, work cell layout development and quality control planning. He has also completed many training sessions in Lean Manufacturing and has applied those principles to the plant floor with great success and a high degree of customer satisfaction.
- Brian O’Neill Sales Engineer
With nearly 30 years of experience in the thermoforming industry, Brian has been with SAY Plastics since 2006 as our Senior Applications Engineer. His areas of expertise include thermoforming techniques, tooling, plastics fabrication, OEM components, conversion to plastics and new product development. Prior to joining SAY, Brian held sales engineering and product development roles in a broad range of markets including defense, aerospace, medical, marine, commercial and industrial. He is a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
- Danielle Kienle Product Engineer
Danielle joined SAY Plastics in 2018 as a Product Engineer. She brings more than 5 years of valuable thermoforming experience to the team, focusing on heavy gauge vacuum and pressure form tooling designs. Before joining SAY Plastics, Danielle was a Design Engineer at Brentwood Industries, Inc. where she gained industry expertise working on large, heavy-truck and rail transportation programs. She developed a robust tooling specification document and successful pressure form tooling designs for thermoforming TPO, with a focus on continuous improvement. Danielle holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University.
- Ron Straub Vice President and General Manager
As Partner and Vice President/General Manager, Ron brings over 40 years of business management experience to SAY Plastics. He has been with SAY for 17 years and manages all business affairs for the company. In addition to carrying out the President’s vision, Ron also plays a pivotal role in staffing development and marketing. Ron is a graduate of York College of Pennsylvania.
- Suzann Speck Commercial Development Manager
Suzann joined SAY Plastics in 2018 as Commercial Development Manager. She brings more than 30 years of thermoforming experience to our team including sales processes, marketing, project management, P&L, administration management and relationship-building. Suzann also brings a unique hands-on understanding to commercial development that’s built on her shop floor experience and entrepreneurial spirit. Prior to joining SAY Plastics, Suzann was a third-generation owner of Speck Plastics, Inc. where she increased sales 20% in just 18 months during a downward economy. In 2014, Suzann negotiated the sale of Speck Plastics to another company within the industry.
- Thomas Slaybaugh Engineering Manager
Thomas is SAY Plastics’ Engineering Manager. He oversees all CNC operations and CAD applications related to customer design support, tool design & manufacturing, processing and component trimming. Thomas previously worked as a shift supervisor, managing the CNC department at SAY Plastics. He has over 20 years of experience in Sheet Fed Thermoforming, including CNC router set-up and operation and CNC programming with excellent fluency in G-code programming language. Thomas also has a passion for training and team skills development – he’s been instrumental in developing and implementing a successful CNC certification training program and he has authorized standardized inspection reports used for FAI’s for every forming and trim set-up. His dedication and focus on continuous improvement with CNC processes has resulted in reduced post trim labor, shorter cycle times and improved part quality for our customers.
- Tammy BaumgardnerPurchasing / Customer Service
Tammy has been part of the SAY Plastics team for over 20 years and has served in many different roles for the company. She started out as a shop laborer and later moved to office manager’s assistant. Her current position is in Purchasing/Procurement and Customer Service. Tammy assists our sales engineers with things such as raw materials pricing and expediting product. She also manages outsource vendors, MRP stock items, and much more.
- Erich KaintzVice President of Business Development
Erich Kaintz joined SAY Plastics in 2017 as Vice President of Business Development. He brings 18 years of diverse industry experience to our organization in the areas of thermoforming engineering, application evaluation, value analysis, materials, and tooling design and development. Prior to joining SAY, Erich held various roles in engineering, product development and sales development. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Millersville University, and Project Management Certification from Penn State University and the Project Management Institute (PMI)®.
- Brian FinkAccount Manager
As Account Manager, Brian’s role is to support continued business growth by providing outstanding account service to our customers. With a decade of experience in the thermoforming industry, Brian has held the role of Quality Manager, managed large OEM accounts, and led many new product development initiatives that have driven innovative solutions, system/process improvements and client cost savings. Brian has several degrees and industry certifications including a certificate for Heavy Gauge Thermoforming from the Pennsylvania College of Technology, and certifications from the American Society for Quality (ASQ). He also has a specialized degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design from York Technical Institute and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the Indiana Institute of Technology.
- Jon FakeDesign Engineer
As a member of the Design Engineering team, Jon provides industry expertise for part and tooling development through SolidWorks. He also supports tool path creation through MasterCAM for machine tools used as part of the SAYtooling System. Jon has held various roles throughout his career including application engineer, product development specialist, field service technician, design engineer, quality engineer and project manager. He served clients across many industries including medical, automotive, machining, food. Prior to joining SAY Plastics Jon worked in heavy gauge plastic thermoforming at Sailing Industries. Jon has extensive training in Kaizen and Six Sigma events and is well versed in CAD Software. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University and is also a U.S. Army veteran.
- Joyce BerkheimerAccounting
Joyce has been with SAY Plastics for over a decade and has over 25 years of experience working in accounting and as an office manager at manufacturing companies. In her accounting role at SAY, she has experience with purchasing, human resources, payroll, accounts receivable, general ledger and financial statements, environmental accounting and customer service. Joyce has a BS in Accounting from York College of Pennsylvania.
