Our History
SAY Plastics, Inc. was founded in 1986 by William Smith and William Yingling by request of Westinghouse Elevator (Schindler Elevator), Caterpillar, and Black & Decker because their current supplier was no longer meeting their service expectations. From day one, SAY Plastics provided heavy gauge vacuum forming and fabrication solutions.
Over the years, key customers and plastics processes were added. A blow molding operation was added and successfully launched to support Hanover’s local snack food companies to later be sold in an initiative to return the company to its core competency of heavy gauge thermoforming.
In 2004 Louis Smith, son of William, who has been with the company in its entirety, became President and Visionary. We started to see rapid growth with Louis’s leadership and added a major Bus Manufacturer in 2007 (Orion – Daimler) among other larger OEMs. We launched our surface protection products service in 2015 and have continued to evolve with the most recent manufacturing plant reorganization. The focus of this initiative is the continued vision of a growing company with new machinery and a “lean” flow of production as well as ergonomic updates for the administration team.
